The art of translating comics is a very special kind of “struggle”. With important distinctions compared to translating from literature, as well as specific rules and limitations, it not only demands excellent knowledge of both the original and the target languages, but also a deep knowledge of comics and their unique vocabulary.
Two renowned comics translators discuss the linguistic riddles, the traps and difficulties of translating comics, and share their experiences from the whole process. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve been given the task of working on the “untranslatable” SWAMP THING #32 (by Alan Moore & Shawn McManus), and reveal the results of their efforts for the first time in front of the audience!
