Writer and cartoonist Benoît Sokal is the creator of L’INSPECTEUR CANARDO, the story of a disillusioned duck, who experiences its grief in an animal universe, and whose adventures have been translated into more than ten langueges. Furthermore, Sokal is one of the first comics creators who conceived, carried out and oversaw the production process of a videogame. So, in 1996, he designed his first video game, titled L’AMERZONE, which was released by Microids and sold more than a million copies.
In 2002, he created SYBERIA, for which he accepted the Phoenix Award for “Personality Of The Year”, as well as Gamespy’s “Adventure Game Of The Year” award. Sokal’s imaginative story, inspired by the big events of the 20th Century, is a game that invites the audience to a journey of migration. SYBERIA stands out for its discovery of a unique visual universe and for its alluring characters. Two years later, SYBERIA II was met with similar success and caused the same enthusiasm as the first game of the series.
Since 2008, Benoît has been focused again in comics, creating the series KRAA, the first volume of which came out in 2010. In early 2017, the long-awaited SYBERIA III will come out (Anuman Interactive/Microids), signalling the return of the story’s iconic heroine, Kate Walker.
