Η Emma ίδρυσε την SelfMadeHero το 2007, έχοντας εντοπίσει ένα κενό στην αγορά για υψηλής ποιότητας graphic novels. Το υπόβαθρό της στις εκδόσεις και ενα μεταπτυχιακό στη δημοσιογραφία στο City University του Λονδίνου, την οδήγησαν να εργαστεί ως δημοσιογράφος, σε δημόσιες σχέσεις για τον κινηματογράφο, αλλά και ως διευθύντρια σύνταξης αρκετών μικρών εκδοτικών οίκων. Από τότε που ίδρυσε τη δική της εταιρεία εστιάζει πλέον στο επιχειρηματικό κομμάτι της έκδοσης βιβλίων, ενώ παραμένει ενεργή και στην ανάθεση και την επιμέλεια νέων εκδόσεων. Ανακηρύχθηκε UK Young Publishing Entrepreneur of the Year στα British Book Industry Awards 2008. Η SelfMadeHero έχει γίνει ένας από τους κορυφαίους ανεξάρτητους εκδοτικους για graphic novels και φιλοξενεί καλλιτέχνες τόσο από τη Βρετανία όσο και εκτός αυτής, διανέμοντας τα βιβλία τους σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο.
Emma launched SelfMadeHero in 2007, after spotting a gap in the market for high quality graphic novels. Her background in publishing, following a postgraduate diploma in journalism at City University, London, has seen her work as a journalist, a film PR and as an editorial director for several small publishers. Since launching her own company, her focus has shifted to the business and entrepreneurial face of book publishing, while she remains hands-on in commissioning and editing new titles. She was named UK Young Publishing Entrepreneur of the Year, as part of the British Book Industry Awards 2008. SelfMadeHero has become one of the leading independent graphic novel publishers, home to artists from Britain and abroad whose books are distributed throughout the world.
