Η Avant-Verlag ειναι εκδοτική με έδρα στο Βερολίνο, που εξειδικεύεται στα comics και τα graphic novels. Ιδρύθηκε το 2001 από τον Johann Ulrich και είναι πλέον ένας ιδιαίτερα γνωστός εκδοτικός οίκος που έχει κερδίσει το σεβασμό και έχει βραβευτεί με το Berlin Publishers Award, ενώ παράλληλα έχει αποσπάσει (περισσότερες από μια φορές) το German Publisher Award.
Κύριος πυλώνας του εκδοτικού της προγράμματος την τελευταία δεκαετία ήταν η έκδοση πρωτοεμφανιζόμενων Γερμανών καλλιτεχνών (κάτι στο οποίο κρατά τα πρωτεία). Κυκλοφορόντας 24 βιβλία κάθε χρόνο η Avant-Verlag έχει εκδόσει κάποια από τα πιο σημαντικα γερμανικά comics. Έργα όπως τα “drüben!”, “Packeis”, “Today is the last day of the rest of your live”, “Madgermanes”, “Der Umfall”, “Venustransit” ή “Turing” δημιούργησαν αίσθηση, τόσο στη Γερμανία όσο και εκτός αυτής και δείχνουν ότι η νέα γενιά Γερμανών καλλιτεχνών και συγγραφέων βρίσκεται στο ίδιο επίπεδο με τα διεθνή αστέρια του είδους.
Η θεματολογία των τίτλων της κυμαίνεται από βιογραφίες, φεμινισμό, Ιστορία και ιστορίες ενηλικίωσης έως λογοτεχνικές διασκευές.
Ο Johann Ulrich επισκέπτεται το CCA2025 – σε συνεργασία με το Ινστιτούτο Γκαίτε.
Avant-Verlag is a Berlin based publishing house specialized in comics and graphic novels. It was founded in 2001 by Johann Ulrich and the company is now a well-known and respected publishing house, honored with the Berlin Publishers Award and multiple winner of the German publisher award. avant-verlag’s program shows international comics combined with more and more books by German authors.
Publishing by far the most debuts by new German artists and this became a main pillar of our program in the last decade. Some of the most important titles by German comic artists have been published by avant-verlag. We produce 24 books every year. Works like “drüben!”, “Packeis”, “Today is the last day of the rest of your live”, “Madgermanes”, “Der Umfall”, “Venustransit” or “Turing” generate an increasing buzz, both in Germany and abroad and show that the new generation of local artists and authors are on par with the international stars of the genre.
The topics of the titles range from Biographies, Feminism, History, Coming of Age to literature adaptions.
