Dimitris Savvaidis

He was born on New Year’s Day 1976 in Thessaloniki and since he was a child he found that comics and animation were the ideal venues to tell his stories, as they don’t limit the creator’s imagination. His short stories have been published in various Greek magazines and newspapers (BABEL, PARA PENTE, 9, GALERA, TA NEA, SPORT DAY KIDS et al), he has collaborated with various international artists (Victor Coen, Dorit Chrystler, Chuck Sperry, Alexander Zograf, Matt Brooker), and has also published to graphic novels so far.

He has participated in numerous team exhibitions and festivals about comics, animation, and arts, in Greece and abroad (Provlita 2006, Kare Kare, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Animart, AnimaFest, Busho Fest, Grrr Fest etc.), and also organizes and co-ordinates cultural events in his city and other places, such TAF (Thessaloniki Animation Festival), MystiCon (Thessaloniki Mystery Convention) and others. He has created five short animation fims (with participation in festivals in Greece and abroad), documentaries, and video backgrounds for theatrical productions in Thessaloniki.

Since 2003, he’s been teaching scriptwriting for comics and animation, in Greece and abroad, and from 2005 till now he has been twice awarded and five times nominated at the Greek Comics Awards and their predecessor, Comicdom Awards. In 2014, he created AddArt, a hub of culture and art.
