This workshop introduces Green Card Voices, a U.S. based NGO that builds inclusive, integrated communities among immigrants and their neighbors through multimedia storytelling. These first-person stories – both in writing and on video – by immigrants living in the United States and refugees from 150 countries, offer opportunities for students to participate in engaging speaking, listening, guided reading & writing, and empathy-building activities.

We will demonstrate a variety of ways you can use comics and especially our anthology OUR STORIES CARRIED US HERE and our Story Stitch card game, to build both language skills, empowerment and empathy among students by facilitating deep conversations and the sharing of personal stories.
