About us

Comicdom Con Athens is an annual two-day comics festival, organized by the non-profit organization Comicdom Press and the Hellenic-American Union. In this event, which is based on the standards set by international comics conventions, the Greek audience is introduced to one of the most interesting Art Forms: famous guests, original art exhibitions, sketch events, panels, documentaries, movies, workshops on comics and related arts, panels, publisher spotlights, retailer booths and comics industry awards.

In the past, Comicdom Con Athens hosted two highly respected original art exhibitions: “Peanuts Through 50 Years”, in 2007, and “The Spirit Of will Eisner”, in 2008.

Comicdom Press and the Hellenic-American Union continue their successful collaboration, with the vision to introduce the 9th Art to the widest audience possible. The fourth Comicdom Con Athens will be held on the weekend of April 11-12 2009.

Among the guests of Comicdom Con Athens were some really important names from the international comics scene, like Joe Linsner, Bill Tucci, David Lloyd, Mark Buckingham, Peter Milligan, and Scott Lobdell.

They describe the experience of their visit:

“Comicdom Con Athens is one of the best conventions on Earth! The staff -all volunteers- were completely professional and extended their selfless generosity to each guest and every attendee. Comicdom Con is a true gem and an example for all shows to follow.”

(Bill Tucci)

“It’s no surprise that the birthplace of the civilized world would provide the template for the most gracious, thought provoking and intelligent comic book convention I have ever had the pleasure to attend. Keep it up, Greece, and you’ll rule the world again!”

(Scott Lobdell)

“Comicdom Con Athens. One of those Comic Convention experiences that goes beyond where conventions usually stop, by expanding the whole conversation into areas not normally covered. Fond memories, generous people and a great convention. Small… but perfectly formed.”

(Andrew Wildman)

“One of my favorites! This is a friendly, well-organized and very enthusiastic convention. The scope and quality of the panels was incredible.”

(Peter Milligan)

“I was impressed with the variety of panels presented – from talks with publishers to intimate forums with artists. The content was befitting a much more mature conference. As an exhibitor, my concerns were addressed and I felt very well taken care of. It was a real eye-opener to see the dedication of the comic afficionados of Athens.”

(Jean Schulz)

“It was a great experience. The attending crowd was really enthusiastic and open and the venue was intimate enough that you felt like you got to really connect with other creators and vendors. The crowd seemed a lot more diverse in gender and age compared to American comic conventions, which was a refreshing change. If I lived closer, Comicdom Con Athens would be on my “must attend” convention list every year.”

(Paige Braddock)

"An excellent event in beautiful surroundings. A privilege to be invited!"

(David Lloyd)
